New Orleans, LA, May 28th, 2009 - New Orleans Hip-Hop and R&B radio station, Power 102.9 FM, will be hosting the first ever "Generation Next" showcase at the House of Blues Parish Room on June 5th, 2009. The concert will feature some of the top urban music artists in New Orleans, including Currensy, Raw Dizzy, Dee-1, Dappa, Kourtney Heart, Team Robot, Elysian Fieldz and 102.9's own, DJ Bombshell Boogie.

The headlining artist, Currensy, was recently featured in XXL magazine as one of the Top 10 Freshmen of 2009. Currensy recently released his new album, "This Aint No Mixtape", which is now available online. Currensy will be performing with special guest, Corner Boy P. The showcase will also feature Dee-1, a middle-school teacher turned rapper who has gained massive exposure through recent live performances with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Lil Wayne and Akon.  Dee-1 recently released his debut album, "David & Goliath", available in all Best Buy stores in Louisiana and online through iTunes.

Also performing on June 5th, is Raw Dizzy, who is best known for his hit single "Myspace (Work Ya Elbows)", several successful albums and mixtapes, and his work with Lil Wayne in the hip-hop group, "Squad Up". Dizzy's manager, producer and DJ, Raj Smoove, will also be performing with him at the concert. Kourtney Heart, another artist backed by Raj Smoove, recently won the "New Orleans Idol" competition at the monthly urban nightlife event, "First Fridays". Her single, "Spell It Out" is currently in rotation on Power 102.9 FM. At the age of 15, Kourtney is the youngest performer on the line up for June 5th, but she is recognized as one of the top R&B talents in the city.

Dappa and Team Robot will also be performing on June 5th, having gained a solid crowd of supporters through various live performances and mixtapes. Dappa recently opened for popular R&B singer, "the Dream", at the House of Blues. The "Generation Next" showcase follows the success of an earlier event produced by Flytracks Crew Marketing and Promotions in April at Tipitina's, called the "Hip-Hop Expo", which featured a similar line up of artists.
